Our Office in Historic Iwasa Building

By PR Team

Built in 1950 as a ramune factory, the Iwasa Building is now where we work every day.

Why did we choose this place? In this article, we share what we value in this space and the small details that make it ours.

Why Iwasa Building?

Our office is in the Iwasa Building, originally built in 1950 as a ramune factory. Today it is recognized as one of Sapporo's landscape assets and home to many companies, including creative businesses and beyond.

A few years ago, when we were considering relocation, this building was the first place that came to mind. We had always been drawn to its atmosphere.

The stairs are very steep, but that is part of the charm.
Textured hallway and vintage doors
The hallway and doors carry a unique texture and history.

When we found a vacancy and visited for a viewing, our intuition immediately turned into conviction. The four-meter-high ceilings from its factory days and the vintage doors that feel like a New York apartment gave us a strong sense of place.

We chose this as our base because of its sense of spaciousness and material character, things hard to find in efficiency-first modern office buildings.

Inside the door: Younode workspace

Five team members living in Japan currently come to the office around three days a week, while working closely with our teammates in Bangladesh remotely. Once you open the door, you step into an open space that feels unique to this building.

The openness created by high ceilings and large windows

The high ceilings from its former factory structure and the large windows that bring in natural light create a refreshing sense of openness. When we need a break, simply looking outside helps us reset.

Greenery and playful interior details

One of the first things people notice in our office is the greenery placed throughout the space. These plants add calm and comfort to our daily work.

We also intentionally avoid making our interior too uniform. Playfulness is one of our core values, and we express it through small, carefully selected objects across the office.

One standout item is a traditional Boys' Festival samurai doll display. With international members on our team, this symbol of Japanese culture has become one of our favorite pieces.

The texture of a historic building, fresh greenery, and playful interior details come together to create a warm and comfortable space that feels uniquely Younode.

Building from this place

This office, where the long history of the Iwasa Building meets our idea of comfort, has become a base that supports the way we think and work.

Times keep changing, but we will continue doing things the Younode way from this place, with curiosity and enjoyment. If you are nearby, feel free to stop by.
